Find the main idea first

Before looking at answer choices, identify the passage purpose and the role of each paragraph. The main idea is the broad point supported by the whole passage.

Method

1. Read the introduction and conclusion carefully.
2. Write a five-word summary.
3. Return to the exact sentence that supports each detail answer.

Avoid answers that are true but too narrow, too broad, or unsupported.
